As you know, we specialize in unused original stock hardware. All we usually do is clean off the dust and lubricate the moving parts so you'll be happy for years to come. Every now and then we feel we need to go a step further.
Sometimes in our descriptions you'll see the phrase "NEW PRIME AND PAINT RECOMMENDED". We have found in our own experience that the original finish won't hold up to weather. The picture illustrates a set of handles that have been exposed to upstate New York weather for 7 years. One without & one with. Can you guess which is which?
Yes, it's an added expense but we've found that it's always cheapest to do things right the first time.
